DA releases P51M indemnity to 4,300 farmers for crop damage

A total of 4,300 farmers in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Bicol have received ₱51 million in indemnity payments from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) for crops damaged by recent typhoons.

This is part of a larger P667 million allocation aimed at indemnifying 86,000 farmers.

The indemnity payments are intended to help farmers recover from losses and encourage them to continue planting despite frequent calamities.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. previously led the distribution of ₱24.73 million to 1,437 farmers and fisherfolk in Mindoro, with Occidental Mindoro receiving ₱16.046 million and Oriental Mindoro receiving ₱8.684 million.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) 4-B (Mimaropa) also delivered PHP261 million worth of aid to affected farmers, including financial assistance and other agricultural support.

Additionally, the DA's Rice-for-All Program is now selling rice at ₱42 per kilogram at select Kadiwa stores due to a decrease in international rice prices.
