Worker nabbed in Leyte with P2.7M shabu

A construction worker, identified as Yoyo (39), was apprehended in Ormoc City, Leyte, in a joint buy-bust operation where authorities confiscated 400 grams of suspected shabu valued at over P2.7 million.

Yoyo, a construction site laborer, is considered a high-value target and was identified by a suspect from a previous operation.

A three-month case build-up led to his arrest, with a police officer acting as the poseur buyer.

The suspect admitted to receiving illegal drug supplies from Cebu City via the seaports of Hilongos and Isabel towns in Leyte.

He also confessed to transporting a kilogram of shabu that had already been distributed by pushers.

Financial hardship drove Yoyo to work as a drug courier, earning PHP20,000 per delivery.

The operation was successful due to a civilian informant's tip-off, according to Lt. Col. Joel Camacho, deputy chief for operations of the Ormoc City police office.
