Construction of Ortigas Station for Metro Manila Subway Project begins after 2-year delay

Construction of the Ortigas Station for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) has commenced in Pasig City after a two-year delay.

The MMSP is now set for completion by 2032, with the entire subway length expected to be under construction by November.

The P488.5-billion project is co-funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The Ortigas Station is anticipated to be completed within three years and become fully operational by 2031.

The MMSP will be the first underground subway in the Philippines, spanning approximately 35 kilometers with 17 stations.

It is expected to service over 500,000 passengers daily from Valenzuela to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.

The subway line aims to reduce travel time from Quezon City to NAIA from 70 minutes to 45 minutes.

Megawide Construction Corp. is building the Ortigas station.
