Comelec places Datu Odin Sinsuat under its control

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has placed Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, under its control through Resolution No. 11126, citing political instability and threats to peaceful elections.

Comelec Commissioner Noli Pipo, appointed as administrator, will visit the municipality to assess the situation and coordinate with law enforcement.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirmed the municipality is under Comelec control, a decision influenced by the killing of Comelec Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Maceda Lidasan-Abo and her husband on March 26.

Pipo's primary objective is to ensure the safety of election workers, Comelec personnel, Deped, Treasury, candidates, supporters, and voters.

The Comelec has ordered the PNP, AFP, and PCG to deploy sufficient personnel to secure all voting centers in the town.

Under Comelec control, national and local officials and employees in the area will be under the poll body's direct supervision.
