Comelec reports fewer vote-buying incidents on election day
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported a decrease in vote-buying and vote-selling incidents during the recent Eleksyon 2025.
The Comelec Committee on Kontra Bigay (CKB) received a total of 1,126 reported incidents, a decrease from the 1,200 reported in the 2022 national elections.
Of the total incidents, 677 were related to vote-buying and vote-selling, and 227 were linked to the abuse of state resources.
Regions III, IV-A, NCR, V, and I recorded the highest number of complaints.
Commissioner Ernesto Maceda Jr., CKB chairperson, attributed the decline to increasing public awareness, enforcement visibility, and a growing fear of consequences among candidates.
