Comelec releases reso amending rules on Eleksyon 2022 gun ban
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has amended its policy on gun ban exemptions for Eleksyon 2022, releasing Resolution 10777 which modifies Resolution No. 10728.
Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan announced that automatic gun ban exemptions will be granted to the Office of the Vice President, senators, congressmen, court justices, Cabinet secretaries up to assistant secretaries, and their security details.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents and election officers are also included in the automatic exemption list.
The Comelec resolution prohibits bearing, carrying, or transporting firearms or deadly weapons outside of one's residence or place of business and in all public places from January 9 to June 8, 2022.
Pangarungan stated that the amendment aims to expedite and simplify the process of granting exemptions to deserving public officials.
