Comelec receives 271 vote-buying, ASR complaints for Eleksyon 2025

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Committee on Kontra-Bigay (CKB) has received a total of 271 complaints as of May 1, 2025, concerning alleged vote-buying, vote-selling, and abuse of state resources (ASR) with just a few days left before Eleksyon 2025.

Of these complaints, 169 involve vote-buying and vote-selling, while 80 are related to ASR.

The regions with the highest number of reports include Calabarzon, Central Luzon, National Capital Region, Mimaropa, and Bicol Region.

Laguna, Marikina City, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, and Bulacan have the most complaints.

Commissioner Ernesto Maceda Jr., CKB chairperson, noted that the current number of complaints (271) is significantly lower compared to the 1,226 received by the Comelec for the 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE) with a similar remaining timeframe.

He suggested this could indicate either a decrease in incidents or an increase in public reporting as Election Day approaches.
