Comelec eyes March 19 for ballot printing completion

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) aims to finish printing ballots for the May 2025 polls by March 19, with almost 30 million ballots already printed as of February 15, 2025.

These 30 million printed ballots represent 41% of the total 72 million needed for the elections.

However, only approximately 5.5 to 6 million ballots have undergone verification so far.

Ballot verification is being conducted at the Amoranto Sports Complex and the National Printing Office.

The poll body has set April 14 as the deadline for the finalization of ballots, including verification and replacement of defective ones.

COMELEC Chairman George Garcia explained that some ballots may have errors like incorrect cuts, colors, or smudges, necessitating a two-level verification process.

Defective ballots rejected so far amount to only seven to eight percent of those printed.
