Comelec inks deal with DepEd, DOST for Eleksyon 2022

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to prepare for the Eleksyon 2022.

The MOA signing was conducted virtually and led by Comelec chairman Sheriff Abas, Education Secretary Leonor Briones, and Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña.

The agreement with DOST focuses on the Automated Election System Law, including conducting examinations and issuing certifications for electoral board members, as well as coordinating with Comelec regional offices.

The collaboration with DepEd involves the submission of a list of teachers who will serve as electoral board members and coordination with Comelec regional offices.

Comelec's responsibilities under the MOA include providing honoraria for electoral board members and offering training and capacity-building programs for teachers.
