Comelec dispatches VCMs, election supplies nationwide

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday began transporting automated election system (AES) supplies, including vote-counting machines (VCMs), to regional hubs across the country for the May 9 polls.

These supplies were loaded onto trucks that departed from the Comelec's warehouse in Sta. Rosa, Laguna at midnight.

Comelec chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan, along with other commissioners and election stakeholders, were present during the dispatch ceremony.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez stated that the dispatch of these items is proceeding as planned.

The deployment of election-related equipment, peripherals, forms, and supplies initially started in February, with VCM external batteries, non-accountable forms, and supplies being the first items dispatched.

Official ballots and indelible ink will be dispatched next, following the completion of ballot printing.
