Comelec commissioner appointed head of anti-vote buying task force

Commission on Elections Commissioner Aimee Ferolino has been appointed as the chairperson of the inter-agency "Task Force Kontra Bigay", which will investigate vote-buying complaints.

The task force is composed of the Comelec, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and Local Government, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, Philippine Information Agency, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Commissioner George Garcia announced Ferolino's designation, citing her qualifications for the role.

Ferolino will be responsible for organizing meetings, formulating additional guidelines for vote-buying reports, and implementing the Comelec's mandate to act on complaints or initiate investigations.

Immediate actions on vote buying are expected due to the broad coordinative efforts of the task force.

Ferolino also chairs the Comelec's Shipping Committee for the 2022 polls.

The Comelec also resolved to amend Resolution 10728 concerning the ban on firearms and security personnel during the election period.
