Comelec asks PRRD to declare May 9 as special non-working holiday

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has formally requested President Rodrigo Duterte to declare May 9, 2022, the date of the national and local elections, as a special non-working holiday across the Philippines.

This proposal, outlined in Comelec en banc Resolution No. 10784, aims to give Filipinos ample time to participate in Eleksyon 2022.

The resolution was signed by Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan and other commissioners.

As of April 28, over 175,000 overseas voters have cast their votes, with the majority coming from the Middle East and African countries.
