Classes, gov't work suspended in 17 areas due to LPA, habagat

Classes and government work were suspended in Metro Manila and 16 other provinces due to inclement weather conditions.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced the suspension of work and classes across affected regions.

The provinces included in the suspension are Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Negros Occidental, Pampanga, and Rizal.

The DILG also warned of possible flooding in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, and Bulacan.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecast that Bicol Region, Aurora, Bulacan, Quezon, and Rizal would experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to a low-pressure area (LPA).

Metro Manila, Visayas, MIMAROPA, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON are also expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The LPA was last spotted 570 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

The southwest monsoon is affecting western sections of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and northern Mindanao.
