Cignal HD Spikers sweep Chichi DHTSI in Invitational Conference opener

The Cignal HD Spikers began their 2024 Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference campaign with a dominant straight-sets victory over Chichi DHTSI.

New recruits Owa Retamar and JM Ronquillo showcased impressive performances in their debut matches, leading the team to a swift win.

Despite the absence of key players, the HD Spikers demonstrated their team depth and strength, aiming for a season sweep after winning the Open Conference.

Retamar, a former National U standout, contributed with 10 excellent sets in the first two frames, orchestrating Cignal's offense.

Ronquillo, a former De La Salle University player, added nine points to the team's score, including five attacks, two blocks, and two aces.

Cignal's head coach Dexter Clamor, while acknowledging the strong start, expressed a desire for improvement, citing unforced errors.
