Cignal bounces back to keep bronze medal hopes alive

Cignal snapped a four-game skid by defeating ZUS Coffee in four sets, keeping their bronze medal hopes alive in the PVL Invitational Conference.

Alas Pilipinas veterans Dawn Catindig and Vanie Gandler saw action for Cignal after receiving PNVF clearance and returning to the team.

Libero Dawn Catindig was instrumental in Cignal's victory, recording 18 excellent digs and 15 receptions.

Catindig expressed happiness about being back with Cignal and proud of the team's performance, stating "everyone wanted to bounce back and rebuild the trust within the team."

Gandler provided a steady presence, contributing six points off the bench, and noted the team's ability to perform well despite her adjustment period.

Erika Santos led the offense with 21 points, supported by Ishie Lalongisip with 13 points, and Tim Tiamzon and Erin Pangilinan each contributing 10 points.

ZUS Coffee, which relied on veterans Chai Troncoso, Kate Santiago and Wielyn Estoque, remained winless after two games.

Troncoso finished with 16 points and 11 digs followed by Santiago with 14 points and Estoque with eight points, including two blocks.

The Thunderbelles fought hard despite the absence of top outside hitter Chinnie Arroyo, veteran leader Jovelyn Gonzaga, rookie AC Miner, national team anchor Thea Gagate, and setter Cloanne Mondonedo.

This win for Cignal also officially secured PLDT's spot in the Finals as they maintained an undefeated record after their own match.
