Chot Reyes downplays Grand Slam talk ahead of SMB Finals

TNT coach Chot Reyes downplayed the significance of completing a historic Grand Slam, stating that the 2011 attempt where TNT narrowly missed a Grand Slam against the same San Miguel franchise is "ancient history."

The 2011 team, then known as the Talk N' Text Tropang Texters, won the Philippine Cup and Commissioner's Cup but lost to the Petron Blaze Boosters, who were then known as the San Miguel franchise, in the Governors' Cup.

Reyes acknowledged the opportunity for TNT to achieve a Triple Crown sweep, a place in PBA history, against San Miguel.

Critics have questioned TNT's capability of winning the title without import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who has been instrumental in their previous wins.

However, Reyes pointed to his multiple All-Filipino championships as proof of his coaching prowess.

Despite an initial 0-3 start in the Philippine Cup, TNT, led by its stars and role players, turned things around to reach the Finals.
