Escudero admits P30M donor got flood control projects

Senate President Chiz Escudero confirmed that Lawrence Lubiano, president of Centerways Construction and Development Inc., was his top campaign donor in the 2022 elections, contributing P30 million.

Centerways Construction has secured P5.16 billion in flood control projects since 2021, with a significant majority, 96%, implemented in the Bicol region.

Escudero denied any involvement in the identification, bidding, awarding, payment, or inspection of any government projects in Sorsogon or elsewhere.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. disclosed that flood control projects amounted to P545 billion, with 20% awarded to 15 contractors.

Centerways Construction was one of these contractors, bagging P5.4 billion in flood control projects in the Bicol Region and Central Visayas, which represents 0.998% of the total contracts disclosed by Marcos.
