Chinese Coast Guard docks in Manila for friendly visit, joint exercises

A Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessel has docked in Manila for a five-day "friendly visit" and to conduct joint maritime exercises with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The CCG vessel, 5204, is the first of its kind to officially visit the Philippines.

The visit aims to showcase goodwill and cooperation, with activities including cross-deck visits, rescue and firefighting exercises, and discussions.

This event also marks the third official meeting of the Joint Coast Guard Committee (JCGC) between the two nations.

While the West Philippine Sea issue will not be part of the discussions, the PCG intends to establish a mechanism for fishermen's welfare.

The cooperation between the CCG and PCG has seen progress, including the establishment of a hotline mechanism, and is expected to enhance regional peace and stability.
