China shoots BFAR ship with water cannon in Bajo de Masinloc, says PH Navy
Chinese vessels fired water cannons at two Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ships conducting a resupply mission for Filipino fishermen near Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal) in the West Philippine Sea.
The harassment by Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels and a People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessel attempted to impede the BFAR mission but were unsuccessful.
Despite the dangerous maneuvers and the firing of water cannons, the BFAR vessels managed to resupply seven Filipino mother boats and 16 small fishing boats in the area.
BFAR commended the professionalism of its personnel and stated that it will not be deterred from its mission to patrol Philippine maritime zones and support Filipino fisherfolk.
