China to donate more COVID-19 vaccines to PH

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian announced that the Chinese government will donate and ensure a stable supply of COVID-19 vaccines for the Philippines.

This assurance was made during the inauguration of the China-funded Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, attended by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Ambassador Huang stated that China will donate more vaccines and substantively increase their supply to meet the growing demand in the Philippines.

He emphasized the close relationship between China and the Philippines as neighbors.

Currently, half of the over 27 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the Philippines are from China (Sinovac).

The announcement comes as the Philippines faces a shortage of 42 million vaccine doses, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

President Duterte expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for financing the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge project, highlighting the goodwill and good relations between the two countries.
