Chezka Centeno bows out of WPA World Women's 8-Ball Championship

Filipina billiards player Chezka Centeno was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the WPA World Women's 8-Ball Championship in Jacksonville, Florida, losing to Russia's Kristina Tkach.

Centeno, a two-time 10-ball world champion, was aiming to add the 8-ball title to her collection after winning her second 10-ball crown in Bali last October.

Despite the loss, Centeno had a strong year, securing silver medals in the World 8-Ball tournament in Green Bay and the World Games in Chengdu.

She also achieved victories in the Indonesia International Mixed Doubles with Jeff de Luna and the M Arena Ladies Open in Jakarta.

Centeno expressed on social media that she gave her best and felt good about her performance, attributing some challenges to a recent switch to a new playing cue.

She is determined to return stronger next year, recognizing the need for more practice to fully master her new equipment.

Another Filipina competitor, Rubilen Amit, also saw her title defense end earlier in the tournament after being defeated by China's Liu Shasha.
