Cebu records zero focus crimes for 5 days post-earthquake

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported zero focus crimes in Cebu for five days following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck the province on September 30.

PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that Cebu has maintained a trend of zero focus crimes for about a week.

Focus crimes include offenses such as murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping.

Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan stated that 1,500 police officers are still deployed to monitor collapsed structures and damaged houses to prevent looting.

Despite the absence of crime, Nartatez noted that rehabilitation efforts are underway, and the PNP has shifted its focus to providing support for relief and rehabilitation.

The PNP is providing administrative support, including human resources, logistics, and subsistence allowances, to aid ongoing recovery operations.
