CCA condemns beheading of Teduray leader, raises NMIP death toll to 102

The Climate Change Action (CCA) condemned the beheading of a Teduray indigenous leader in BARMM, raising the death toll of non-Moro Indigenous Peoples (NMIPs) in the region to 102.

CCA highlighted that this killing demonstrates the unfulfilled promises of government protection and the lack of justice for NMIPs.

The brutal murder of Teduray leader Ramon Lupos occurred just before the start of Indigenous Peoples Month.

The CCA described the killing as a calculated act to displace indigenous communities and eradicate their identity, echoing the sentiment that the violence is systemic.

The CCA criticized the PNP, AFP, and OPAPRU for their failure to protect NMIP communities.
