Cavite declares Kaybiang Tunnel a no-tourism zone

The Kaybiang Tunnel is being declared a 'no tourism zone' by the Cavite local government unit starting March 19 due to persistent traffic congestion, garbage, and tourist scuffles.

Governor Jonvic Remulla cited complaints about the area, including a viral video of a brawl between riders.

Starting March 19, parking, eating, taking selfies, and loitering will be banned in the tunnel's vicinity.

Leisure bikers will not be allowed to use the tunnel, and honking while passing through will also be prohibited.

Police checkpoints will be established in Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate to enforce the new regulations.

The tunnel gained popularity among motorcycle riders and cyclists in 2020, with weekend tourist numbers swelling significantly compared to pre-pandemic levels.
