Catbalogan City villages under strict lockdown due to Covid-19 surge

Five villages in Catbalogan City were placed under enhanced surveillance with strict travel restrictions from August 22 to August 25 to contain suspected coronavirus disease (Covid-19) carriers.

These villages, Mercedes, Canlapwas, Poblacion 13, Poblacion 10, and Poblacion 3, have 34, 15, nine, eight, and six active coronavirus cases, respectively.

Residents are prohibited from leaving their homes except for essential personnel, and commercial, industrial, and retail establishments within these areas will be temporarily closed.

The Department of Health and the city health office will trace close contacts of confirmed patients and conduct rapid testing on direct contacts of identified suspects.

The Philippine National Police has been ordered to strictly enforce these travel restrictions and security measures to limit the movement of individuals and restrain the possible spread of the virus.
