Carpio slams Trillanes' drug smuggling complaint

Atty. Manases Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, expressed his dismay that former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV filed drug smuggling and graft complaints against him and Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte.

Carpio stated that Trillanes is attempting to revive accusations of involvement in illegal drugs against him, Rep. Duterte, and the "Davao Group", despite a previous Senate inquiry finding no grounds for indictment.

He accused Trillanes of targeting innocent individuals to enhance his political profile, calling his actions deplorable.

Carpio also warned Trillanes to learn from the libel charges he is currently facing for similar past behavior.

Rep. Paolo Duterte welcomed the case, expressing confidence in being cleared and viewing the filing as an opportunity to address the accusations through Philippine courts.

Trillanes filed the cases before the Department of Justice on Wednesday, also naming former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon as a respondent.
