Despite a decrease in Mt. Kanlaon's unrest, the accumulated volcanic sediments on its slopes pose a risk of lahar flow if dislodged by heavy downpours.

A lahar flow was previously reported in Biak-na-Bato, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
