Abueva drops career-high 41 points as Titan Ultra defeats Meralco

Calvin Abueva, 37, achieved a career-high 41 points to lead the Titan Ultra Giant Risers to a 100-96 victory over the Meralco Bolts in their PBA Philippine Cup debut.

Abueva's performance included 14-of-27 shooting from the field, seven rebounds, and he scored 16 of his points in the third period.

His fearless hustle in the final seconds, diving for a loose ball, allowed Joshua Munzon to make crucial insurance free throws, preventing Titan Ultra from squandering a 19-point lead.

Abueva expressed that his energy came from his teammates and their trust, making him feel young again despite his age.

Joshua Munzon also contributed 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks for Titan Ultra.

For Meralco, CJ Cansino led with 22 points and 9 rebounds, supported by Raymond Almazan's 16 points and Bong Quinto's 15 points.

Titan Ultra's next game is against the Converge FiberXers, while Meralco will play the Rain or Shine Elastopainters.
