Calapan City reverts to MECQ due to COVID-19 outbreak among police trainees

Calapan City has reverted to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) due to an outbreak of 42 COVID-19 cases among police trainees.

The police trainees tested positive for the virus after undergoing PCR testing in Batangas City.

These 42 new cases, along with five other trainees and one police officer who previously tested positive, have been isolated at the City Treatment and Isolation Facility.

Mayor Arnan Panaligan stated that the infected trainees had been on duty in the city before being quarantined on August 4.

The MECQ status will be in effect for 14 days starting August 13 to allow for comprehensive contact tracing efforts.
