CA confirms 2 Comelec commissioners

The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed the ad interim appointments of two Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioners, Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal and Noli Rafol Pipo.

Both commissioners will serve full seven-year terms expiring in 2032.

During the committee hearing, Tangaro-Casingal and Pipo were questioned on issues from the recent May 12 polls, including 17 million overvotes and low overseas voter turnout.

They also addressed an opposition against Tangaro-Casingal's confirmation filed by Rogelio Rabanal, who claimed she denied his motion for reconsideration for his 2022 Sangguniang Panlalawigan candidacy.

Tangaro-Casingal explained that Rabanal's certificate of candidacy was not filed due to a scanned signature, leading to his exclusion from the 2022 election ballots.
