Bulacan receives 1,428 swab kits from PRC for mass testing

The Provincial Government of Bulacan has received 1,428 swab testing kits worth P5 million from the Philippine Red Cross to conduct mass testing on suspected COVID-19 cases and medical frontliners.

The Department of Health (DOH) has accredited the Philippine Red Cross to operate a polymerase chain reaction laboratory in Bulacan.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando stated that he preferred swab tests over rapid tests for accuracy.

However, results from the Philippine Red Cross's tests will be released after five to seven days, a longer turnaround time than previously stated.

As of May 6, 2020, Bulacan recorded 127 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 38 recoveries, and 26 deaths.
