BuCor allows family visits for PDLs during holidays

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is allowing families to visit persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Regular visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with specific dates for stay-in visits.

For Christmas, the first batch of stay-in visitors was from 8 a.m. on Dec. 24 to 7 a.m. on Dec. 25, and the second batch from 8 a.m. on Dec. 25 to 7 a.m. on Dec. 26.

For New Year, the first batch will stay from 8 a.m. on Dec. 31 to 7 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, and the second batch from 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025 to 7 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. stated that these stay-in privileges are divided into two batches to ensure order and allow more families to participate.

Catapang emphasized that this initiative highlights BuCor's commitment to nurturing family relationships and the importance of family ties in the rehabilitation process of PDLs, noting that even those in correctional facilities deserve meaningful connections with loved ones.
