BSP's Amenah Pangandaman named next DBM Sec

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Assistant Governor Amenah Pangandaman has accepted the offer to be the next Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) under the incoming Marcos administration.

This was confirmed by Press Secretary-designate Trixie Cruz-Angeles.

Pangandaman stated her commitment to crafting responsive budget and management policies and ensuring the prudent and transparent use of public funds to support rebuilding efforts from the pandemic and uplift the lives of ordinary Filipinos.

She has a background in Economics and Development Economics, with degrees from Far Eastern University and the University of the Philippines, and is pursuing an Executive Master of Public Administration from the London School of Economics.

Pangandaman previously served as a budget undersecretary during the Duterte administration, where she pushed for crucial budget reforms and was involved in the preparation and implementation of the General Appropriations Act (GAA).

She also oversaw the implementation of the "Green, Green, Green" program, a budget assistance program for local government units to develop sustainable public open spaces.

Having served in the legislative, executive, and central bank, she brings a unique perspective to the Philippine bureaucracy.

She will be part of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s economic team.
