BSP gov optimistic on 2020 PH economic growth

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno remains optimistic that the Philippine economy will achieve 6% growth in 2020, despite the global threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Diokno highlighted that many planned initiatives, such as the "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure program, are not significantly impacted by the virus.

He also noted the Philippines' young, educated, and growing working population as a significant advantage for economic growth.

The BSP Governor emphasized the importance of focusing on domestic improvements, including infrastructure, governance, and ease of doing business, while the rest of the world is distracted by the pandemic.

Diokno stated that completing these domestic tasks will position the Philippines more strongly once the global situation stabilizes.
