Bregente, Malixi share lead in SEA Games golf tilt

Rolando Bregente Jr. and Rianne Malixi spearheaded the Philippine charge in the Southeast Asian Games golf competitions, securing tied leads in their respective divisions at the Siam Country Club.

Bregente delivered a seven-under-par performance on the opening day, despite a late stumble on the 18th hole, to share the lead with Thailand's Pongsapak Laopakdee.

Malixi also carved out a share of the lead in her division with a round of 70, tied with Thailand's Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul.

While Bregente had a strong start, the rest of the Philippine men's team struggled, with Shinichi Suzuki shooting a 78, Chris Remata a 77, and Perry Bucay also a 77.

The Philippine women's team also faced challenges, as Junia Gabasa returned a 79 and Grace Quintanilla an 82.
