Bohol guv asks to lift suspension over resort row

Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado has filed a motion for reconsideration to contest the Ombudsman's six-month preventive suspension order against him concerning the controversial Captain's Peak Resort within the Chocolate Hills protected area.

Governor Aumentado vehemently denies any involvement in the approval of the resort's construction, operation, and expansion, asserting that the charges are unfounded.

He claims the resort was established in 2018, prior to his current term as governor, and that he was not present at the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) meeting in July 2022 where the resolution endorsing the resort's development was approved.

The Ombudsman's order, which applies to Aumentado and 68 other officials, aims to suspend them preventively for six months without pay pending the termination of the administrative adjudication of the case.
