BOC probes luxury cars linked to gov't contractors

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is investigating approximately 40 luxury cars allegedly owned by government contractors Sarah and Pacifico Discaya.

The BOC aims to verify if these vehicles were legitimately imported and if the correct taxes were paid.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno stated that the agency is considering seizure proceedings, depending on the extent of tax deficiencies.

He also noted that the investigation is proceeding with caution as the cars are located within the Discaya couple's private residence.

The Discaya couple's firm, Alpha and Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation, has been identified as one of the companies that secured a significant number of government flood control projects.
