The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intercepted two shipments from the United States at the Port of Manila, containing 12 smuggled motor vehicles valued at PHP10.8 million.
The vehicles were falsely declared as assorted car accessories and supplies, but x-ray scans and a physical inspection revealed the misdeclaration.
The intercepted vehicles include one unit each of a 1996 Acura Integra, 1999 Honda Civic, 2002 Honda S2000, 2004 Honda S2000, and a 2007 Mini Cooper S.
Additionally, three units of a 1998 Honda Civic and four units of a 2000 Honda Civic were seized.
The shipments arrived last month and were consigned to Danesh Consumer Goods Trading.
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio stated that the act violated Section 1400 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and that appropriate legal cases will be filed against those responsible.
