BOC seizes P25.6B in smuggled goods in Q1 2025

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated smuggled goods valued at nearly P25.6 billion in the first quarter of 2025.

This P8.1 billion or 39.59 percent increase in seizures is attributed to the BOC's Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) intensified operations.

The ESS' strict border checks resulted in the seizure of P85.167 billion worth of smuggled goods in 2024.

These efforts have contributed to the Philippines' successful removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List.

In addition to contraband, the ESS also seized P131.8 million in undeclared cash last year as part of its anti-money laundering initiatives.
