The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is warning companies and individuals that harboring "rogue" Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) workers will lead to criminal charges.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that the Bureau will file charges against anyone violating Section 46 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
These foreign workers are considered illegal aliens following the December 31, 2024 deadline for the ban on POGO operations.
The BI cited Commonwealth Act No. 613, as amended, and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s pronouncement banning all POGOs, along with Executive Order No. 74 series of 2024, as legal bases for filing charges.
Viado reminded the public that harboring illegal aliens is a serious offense and that the BI will pursue violators with resolve.
This warning follows Viado's earlier announcement of impending deportation proceedings for more than 11,000 former POGO workers who failed to leave the Philippines before the Dec. 31, 2024 deadline.
The public is encouraged to report any suspected violations through the BI's official social media accounts, email addresses, and hotlines, with assurances of confidentiality.
