Michael Yang's brother arrested at NAIA for being undesirable alien

The eldest brother of former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang, identified as Yang Jian Xin or Tony Yang, was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Thursday, September 19, for being an undesirable alien.

He was arrested based on a mission order from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI), with assistance from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).

Yang Jian Xin, who also goes by Antonio Lim and holds a passport under that name, is accused of falsifying information on the SEC certification of Phil Sanjia Corporation and faces charges for violations of the Social Security Act and Republic Act 11223 for non-remittance of employee contributions.

He was apprehended carrying P1.4 million in cash, other currencies, Chinese passports, various Philippine-issued IDs under the name Antonio Maestrado Lim, a Philippine-issued permit to carry firearms outside residence, and a luxury watch worth more than P2 million as he landed in Manila from Cagayan de Oro.

PAOCC Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz believes Manila was not Yang's final destination and that he may have been attempting to flee the Philippines, noting Yang's habit of carrying his Chinese passport when leaving the country.

If found guilty, Yang will face deportation and blacklisting, although deportation will only commence after the resolution of all his pending cases in the Philippines.
