BI downgrades 2,000 POGO work visas

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has downgraded approximately 2,000 work visas (9G visas) of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) employees following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s announcement of a ban on the gaming platform.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated that around 100,000 POGO workers have not yet secured a new Internet Gaming Licensee (IGL) permit.

POGO employees are permitted to voluntarily downgrade their 9G visas to tourist visas until October 15 to settle their accounts and obtain necessary clearances.

Starting October 16, the BI will begin canceling 9G visas, with the objective of ceasing all POGO operations by December 31, 2024.

Tansingco emphasized that the 100,000 workers mentioned are distinct from those employed by unlicensed POGOs or IGLs.
