BI arrests 5 foreign fugitives wanted for extortion, kidnapping

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested five foreign fugitives wanted in their respective countries for various criminal charges.

The arrested individuals include an American, two South Koreans, a Chinese, and a Taiwanese national.

The American, Paul Raymond Ross, 66, is wanted in Pennsylvania for extortion and harassment, having pleaded guilty in 2008 to threatening communications and serving a 27-month prison sentence.

The two South Korean nationals, Jung Yunjae, 26, and Jeon Hyeonuk, 41, are wanted by the Ulsan District Court for kidnapping, specifically for luring a victim to work in Cambodia for indecent advertisements.

All five fugitives are currently detained at the BI warden facility in Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.

BI Commissioner Atty. Joel Anthony Viado stated that the BI will continue its campaign to apprehend and deport fugitives who pose a threat to public safety.
