BI arrests 4 South Koreans for online fraud schemes

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended four South Korean nationals in Pampanga in two separate operations targeting online fraud schemes.

Two of the arrested Koreans, identified as Ham Seong Hwan and Kim Jongbaek, were involved in running a fraudulent travel agency that lured victims with fake hotel websites, bogus flights, and tour offers.

Park Jinhyung, believed to be the head of the operations, was also arrested and found to be overstaying since 2024.

Authorities seized desktop computers used by the bogus travel agency during the operation.

The operation was conducted in coordination with Korean authorities, the Philippine Air Force in Northern Luzon, and Clark Development Corporation.

Another South Korean national, Park Youngjun, was arrested for fraud and tagged as an undesirable alien following an Interpol red notice and a warrant of arrest from South Korea.
