3 Korean workers without permits nabbed
Three South Korean nationals were apprehended by Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives for working illegally at a private resort in General Trias, Cavite.
The arrested individuals were identified as Oh Hyunsik, 51; Kim Haeyoung, 48; and Kim Seoyeong, 45.
The operation was conducted on Thursday, May 22, following a tip-off about undocumented foreign workers in the area.
BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. confirmed that the foreigners were employed at the resort without the necessary permits and working visas.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado praised the arrest and stressed that foreigners must follow the law while in the country.
The three South Koreans are currently detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, awaiting deportation proceedings.
The apprehension was a joint operation involving the BI, the Philippine Navy, and the Philippine National Police, conducted in line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directives to strictly enforce anti-illegal immigration laws.
