BCPO asks LTO to verify Indian fugitive's driver's license

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has requested the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Bacolod to verify the authenticity of a driver's license issued to Indian fugitive Joginder Geong, also known as Kant Gupta.

Gupta, who presented himself as a Filipino with a local address, was arrested on July 8 in Barangay Taculing and is facing numerous criminal charges in India.

During his arrest, Geong was found in possession of a Nepalese passport and a driver's license valid until November 7, 2026, which indicated a different residential address.

Police are questioning how Gupta obtained the license and are seeking confirmation from the LTO if it was duly issued by their office.

The 40-year-old suspect arrived in Bacolod City in 2022 to evade serious offenses such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and robbery in India.

Gupta is currently under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration for violating Philippine Immigration Law and being an undesirable alien.
