BBM meets diplomats, vows stronger ties with Japan, India, South Korea, US

Presumptive president Bongbong Marcos Jr. met with diplomats from Japan, South Korea, India, and the US.

The meeting with the diplomats was held at the BBM Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

US Chargé d'Affaires Heather Variava congratulated Marcos and emphasized the intent to expand cooperation on shared interests, including the fight against COVID-19, promoting inclusive economic growth, and shared democratic values.

India Ambassador to the Philippines Shambhu Kumaran stated that India would like to work with the Philippines on capacity-building and capability development of the Philippine military.

Japan Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko was told by Marcos that he intends to strengthen relations and expand areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Kumaran was the only diplomat who faced the media and entertained questions, while the others had prior engagements.

Marcos was also expected to announce his new spokesperson.
