Bayla limits Quiambao in UAAP finals Game 1

Rookie Jacob Bayla took on the crucial role of defensive stopper against La Salle's star player Kevin Quiambao in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball finals.

Quiambao had a dominant first half, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds, prompting UP coach Goldwin Monteverde to assign Bayla to guard him.

Bayla successfully limited Quiambao to just one point in the second half, with Quiambao missing all six of his shot attempts.

Bayla expressed his readiness and determination to play his best, stating his mindset was to work hard and play with heart.

The Filipino-American recruit, who contributed five points, three steals, and two rebounds in the game, felt honored to be tasked with guarding the league's best player.

Despite still adjusting to the physicality of the UAAP, Bayla was determined not to waste the opportunity to play in the finals and fulfill his dream.
