Bato Dela Rosa backs death penalty for corrupt officials but prefers jail for himself

Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa expressed support for the death penalty for corrupt government officials, but indicated he would prefer imprisonment for himself.

During a Senate Blue Ribbon hearing, Dela Rosa posed a hypothetical question to former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo regarding the fear of a death penalty law for corrupt officials.

Bernardo responded that while many officials would be scared, corruption might be reduced rather than eliminated.

Senator Ping Lacson then playfully asked Dela Rosa if he would choose life imprisonment in Muntinlupa or the death penalty, to which Dela Rosa implied he would choose prison.
