Batangas classes, gov't work suspended due to Taal Volcano activity

Classes and government work in Batangas province remain suspended on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, due to the heightened activity of Taal Volcano.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea announced the continued suspension until further advice from local government units, based on the recommendation of the NDRRMC.

Frontline response agencies involved in disaster response and vital services are exempted from the suspension.

The private sector is highly encouraged to suspend work for employee safety.

Government work in the National Capital Region, Region 3, and the rest of Calabarzon will resume on Tuesday, with local executives assessing the need for class suspensions in their areas.

Phivolcs maintained Alert Level 4 for Taal Volcano, indicating a possible hazardous eruption within days.

Residents within the 14-kilometer radius of the volcano were previously advised to evacuate due to high risks.
